ABOUT BCI
BCI’s Board of Directors provides oversight and strategic guidance for the organization. The Board is comprised of seven members appointed in accordance with British Columbia’s Public Sector Pension Plans Act. All Directors are non-executive and independent of management.

Board Composition
One member from, and appointed by, the board of trustees of each of:
- College Pension Board
- Municipal Pension Board
- Public Teacher’s Pension Board
- Teachers’ Pension Board
Two members and the Chair appointed by the Minister of Finance:
- Two members representative of other BCI clients
- One Board Chair
Roles and Responsibilities
The Board’s core accountabilities include:
- Appoint the CEO/CIO
- Review and monitor the CEO/CIO’s performance
- Select and appoint external auditor(s)
- Approve policies, business plan, budget, conflict of interest guidelines, financial statements
- Establish the employee classification system and compensation scale
- Ensure an equitable fee system based on user pay principle is in place
- Oversee operations
British Columbia’s Public Sector Pension Plans Act prohibits the BCI Board from being involved in investment decisions. These responsibilities remain with the CEO/CIO and BCI’s investment professionals, under Board-approved policies and guidelines.
